Choosing the right RO tap
Match on three things and the fit is straightforward.
- Mounting. A deck-mount tap passes through a hole in your sink top, granite counter or cabinet board. A push-fit plastic tap threads into the purifier housing or a storage pot. Cabinet and undersink installations need deck mount.
- Counter thickness. A standard stem clears steel sink decks, granite and normal modular kitchen boards. Unusually thick boards need a long stem RO tap, or the mounting nut will not reach the thread.
- Pipe size. Measure the outside diameter of the tube feeding your current tap. Most domestic RO units use 1/4 inch; larger cabinet and under-counter units use 3/8 inch.
Stainless steel or plastic?
Plastic RO taps are inexpensive and fine for a storage pot or a purifier you rarely open. For a kitchen tap used several times a day, SS 304 stainless steel is the better buy: it resists corrosion from RO water, keeps its thread, and survives being over-tightened during installation. Our SS 304 stainless steel RO taps are the ones customers stop replacing.

RO tap FAQs
What size hole do I drill for an RO tap?
12 mm suits most deck-mount RO faucets on a steel sink or wooden board, and 12 to 13 mm in granite or quartz. Start with a smaller bit and open the hole up.
What is the standard RO tap connector size?
1/2 inch threaded is the standard inlet on Indian domestic RO systems. Confirm against your existing tap before ordering.
Which RO tap fits a modular kitchen cabinet?
A deck-mount tap with a stem long enough to clear the board. A standard SS 304 cabinet tap covers normal boards; a long stem tap covers thick ones.
Can I replace an RO tap myself?
Yes. Switch off the purifier, release the line pressure, unscrew the old tap, fit the new one with washers above and below the deck, reconnect the pipe and flush two litres. About ten minutes.
Why is my RO tap dripping or leaking at the base?
A dripping spout usually means a worn internal seal, and a leak at the base almost always means a missing washer or a loose mounting nut.
